CalDAVs supported by v4

Marco Ancona
CTO and Co-Founder, Morgen

At Morgen, we’ve always been committed to supporting CalDAV. This open standard gives you the freedom to choose where your calendar data is stored, instead of being locked into big tech providers.

That said, CalDAV implementations vary widely, and different servers support a range of features, often with quirks of their own. For this reason, only iCloud and Fastmail are considered fully supported in Morgen. Other CalDAV services are supported on a best-effort basis: many work well, but we cannot guarantee flawless behavior.

Below you’ll find a list of services that we have tested with Morgen v4, along with notes on what to expect.

Technical Requirements

For a CalDAV calendar to work properly in Morgen, the server must support the following:

  • Support for calendar-query REPORT (RFC 4791). Allows Morgen to fetch calendars in a specific date range, for example, when computing availability for the booking page.
  • Support for sync-collection REPORT (RFC 6578). Enables incremental synchronization. Without this, Morgen would need to reload your entire calendar every time, which is inefficient.
  • Accessible via the web with a valid TLS certificate chain to ensure secure communication and that the server can be reached from Morgen.

Additionally, the CalDAV server must be reachable by the Morgen server over the public internet. This excludes locally hosted servers without a public IP or publicly resolvable hostname, and servers that require VPN access or are restricted by network firewalls.

What if my provider is not listed?

If your provider isn’t listed here, it may work with Morgen, though we haven’t tested it.

We encourage you to try connecting your account in Morgen. If you run into problems, please reach out to our support team. To help us investigate, include the following details:

  • The provider name
  • The CalDAV server name and version (if available)
  • The Server URL you entered in Morgen when configuring the connection

This information will help us confirm whether Morgen can support your calendar provider and guide you through any necessary setup.

What CalDAV provider do you recommend?

If you are looking for a new service, we recommend Fastmail as an affordable, privacy-focused, and fully featured calendar and email provider.

Fastmail is a promoter of open standards in the space, which is something we value. We’ve worked closely with Fastmail to ensure Morgen supports secure authentication and real-time updates with their service. In fact, Fastmail is the only CalDAV provider where Morgen offers real-time calendar updates.

In addition, Fastmail calendars are fully supported within Morgen Workflows, making it the most seamless and reliable choice for Morgen users who want the best calendar experience without sacrificing privacy and security.
