What’s Changing in Morgen v4?

Morgen v4 is a major architectural and feature upgrade, including:

  • Web app: Access Morgen from any modern browser
  • Simpler setup: Connect integrations once, available across all devices
  • Faster performance: Especially for syncing and calendar interactions
  • Modern sync engine: Better long-term support for standard providers
  • Improved task system: Task tags, Recurring due dates (not fixed times), Earliest start dates
  • Routines: Time-specific recurring blocks that live directly on the calendar
  • Easier access to availability: Faster team availability checks from the sidebar
  • Visual updates: Event tags removed, Colors can now be assigned directly to events, tasks, and routines

Desktop app vs Web app

Once on v4, you can use Morgen on both desktop and web apps. However, Morgen desktop is recommanded to be able to access all the Morgen features.

You have two easy options:

Try v4 in your browser

Log in at:

This lets you test v4 without uninstalling v3.

How to Stay on Morgen v3

If you need to remain on v3:

  • Make sure you’re running Morgen v3.6.18 or later
  • 👉 https://platform.morgen.so/download/v3
  • Open Preferences → General → Auto-update app
  • Select Do not auto-update to v4
  • The Morgen UI will remain on v3

How to Roll Back from v4 to v3

If you’ve already upgraded but need to return to v3:

TLDR

  • v4 is best for most users: better performance, modern sync, and access to Morgen in their browser
  • Switching to v3 is necessary for users with:
    • Exchange On-Premises
    • Legacy CalDAV servers
    • Local/VPN-only CalDAV setups
  • v3 will be supported until summer 2026.
