This guide explains why Outlook (Microsoft 365 / Entra ID) may require admin consent when connecting to Morgen, what users typically see, how to ask the IT admins to approve access.
Free trial and timing
Yes — you can start your Morgen free trial after admin approval.
If approval takes time:
- Do not worry about “wasting” the trial
- Start connecting Morgen once IT approval is granted

Why Morgen requires admin consent
Microsoft protects certain organizational data behind admin-restricted permissions.
Morgen integrates deeply with Outlook calendars to support:
- Personal calendars
- Shared calendars
- Group calendars (Microsoft 365 Groups, Teams, shared resources)
To do this, Morgen must request some permissions that cannot be approved by end users, such as:
Group.ReadWrite.All: required to read and sync group calendars
These permissions:
- Are classified by Microsoft as admin-restricted
- Cannot be downgraded or reclassified as “low risk” by an admin
- Always require explicit admin consent
So even if:
- “User consent for applications” is enabled
- The user signs in with an admin account
Scenario 1: Your organization allows admin consent requests
This is the case if:

- You sign into Morgen
- An “Approval required” dialog appears
- You add a short justification and click on Request approval
- You will see a “Request sent” confirmation
How the admin approves the request

- Go to Microsoft Entra Admin Center
- Navigate to:Enterprise applications → Admin consent requests
- Open the Morgen request
- Review requested permissions
- Approve the request
Once approved:
- You will be notified via email
- You can successfully connect the apps by reconnecting Outlook and Morgen
Scenario 2: If admin consent requests are NOT enabled
Some organizations disable the admin consent workflow.
This is the case if

- The “Need admin approval” screen appears
- There is no button to request approval
- You need to contact the admin to request approval
What the admin must do

- Sign in as an admin
- Go to Microsoft Entra Admin Center
- Navigate to: Enterprise applications
- Find or add Morgen Integration Service
- Open Permissions / API permissions
- Click Grant admin consent
- Check “Consent on behalf of your organization.”
- Confirm
